Board of Directors

Stephen Punzak, M.D.
Stephen Punzak, MD is the founder and CEO of Medical Web Technologies, LLC (MWT), a company that is revolutionizing the preop screening process for surgical patients. The One Medical Passport System first envisioned by Dr. Punzak over a decade ago, has today been adopted by over 300 medical facilities nationwide, streamlining preop and day of surgery workflow, while simultaneously creating marked improvements in patient convenience and patient safety.

In addition to being the “hands on” CEO of a rapidly growing company, Steve still practices clinical anesthesia, noting that “this is where many of the company’s best ideas for product development have come from”. In his 20-plus years of working as an anesthesiologist, Steve’ s anesthesia career has spanned the range of possibilities from complex open heart and liver transplant surgery at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston to fast-paced ambulatory surgery, pain management and obstetrical anesthesia. He attained board certification in both anesthesia and pain management. It was this experience on the “front lines” of anesthesia practice where he experienced firsthand the inefficiencies and shortcomings of the traditional preop process that inspired him to found Medical Web Technologies.

Steve graduated from the Boston College School of Management in 1983 with a major in Finance and a minor in Premed. He was the first graduate of Boston College to receive both the Scholar of the College in Biology and simultaneously be chosen as the commencement speaker for the School of Management. He attended medical school at UCONN and did his anesthesia residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
